A little bit of everything

April Showers Bring May Flowers … and Earthquakes

Just to remind you all, this is a freestyle thing, My goal moving forward is to write a little something for your enjoyment to read and it looks like: I get to talk about myself for a little, sometimes a lot, THEN if you stay until the end of the show, there will always be a small treat for you at the end! If you are experiencing TikTok brain rot, use this as some attention span exercises, you’re welcome ((:

Life

Life is so weird. Right now, I am writing this somewhere over .. Arkansas maybe? Currently traveling to San Francisco, followed by small pit stop in Arizona, and back to the city to “the city that never sleeps”. Happy and healthy, no complaints – just intentional exceptional vibes. It’s getting warmer outside so that means ACRO in central park! S/O JSav. for connecting me with so many fun and interesting people in the NYC acro community, although I am normally hard to get out to train, you have made my *almost 1 year in the city* very enjoyable. Excited for your future!!

Growing up in California, I was not immune to the periodic earthquake drills in school or the annual “The Great Shakeout” iykyk. But jokes on me, earthquakes happen everywhere. If you didn’t know, NJ had a 4.8 magnitude earthquake on 4/5 and NYC had a series of aftershocks, of which I experienced, at home … 22 stories high – and yes, I did have a slight panic attack. We are okay though, no major damage .. no casualties, could have been worse! I was working from home and just thought it was really windy, but the wind normally doesn’t make a rumbling sound or last for as long as it did, As anyone else would, I texted some of my closer friends with the “Did you feel that?” And 10 min later, “I survived the NYC Earthquake” shirts were on sale. NYC never misses!

Okay, since last time we spoke, I told you about my time volunteering at the local urban farm and how I wanted to find some space for my own garden. WELL! I did some research and realized that NYC has TONs of community garden and .., I am officially a member of the garden in my neighborhood!! It was a fairly easy process, I paid some dues, and now I just have to follow the rules!  I joined a couple of committees, and one is the community engagement/social media committee, so that definitely means if you come to visit me, I am 1000% taking you to see the garden. I learned more about composting and that NYC has a very short growing season (bummer) but I planted some red and yellow beets and I gave the name to my bed the “BeetBox”. Since it is community, it’s not mines since we share the space and plants as a community! Others planted carrots, lots of leafy greens, tomato plants and a couple of pea variations. I am VERY excited for the strawberries and onions .. for some odd reason. I aim to be more consistent with volunteering at the Urban Farm in red hook and so far I have been there about every other month! – Please spend some time outside, the sun is sooo good for you and gardening is SO fun! If its not gardening that’s okay, just enjoy the outside, the weather is warming up and it’s the perfect spring activity!

BIG Update: I AM MOVING OUT OF MY STUDIO!! Remember last time when I said I couldn’t host dinner parties since I didn’t have the space in my small studio .. SURPRISE .. I signed a lease on a 1 bedroom and I move in this May! I am SO EXCITED to finally have a door to my bedroom – It’s the little things that matter. Luckily its right next to my old place so no drastic changes. So, if you are reading this and are local to the city, maybe ill actually host a dinner party Come one, come all! Since the weather is starting to get nicer (THANK GOODNESS – seasonal depression is VERY real, if that wasn’t mentioned already) maybe I’ll do a BBQ of some sort, but I am no grill master, let me know if you know someone. I am so excited to make this place my home for the next couple of years. I don’t know how long I will be in the city, but for now, I’m looking forward to making this cute place I’m moving to my new home! Jk, I might be here for a while – I love it here BUT, California continues to call my name .. San Diego speficially

Career

Same ol’ same ol. Just putting it in the universe that I want to action on some entrepreneurial ventures in my near future. If you, or know anyone who works in the space of private equity or healthcare consulting – I’d love to connect! I am almost coming on a year of my current position which means that I am almost to the 1-year mark of moving to NYC and THAT IS SO COOL! – I love taking risks. If you don’t know, high risk=high reward (always dependent on your mindset). Anywho, nothing crazy there, my current goal is to use have the ability to use excel without touching my mouse – turning into one of the finance bros day by day.

Commercial break over, here is the good stuff for you!

The power of DO and the belief in yourself.

Everyone always says having confidence is so important, but no one ever tells you how to get it! Confidence can come in different shapes and forms, and for many, they already have it! It just may be in a different form that you are not used to using. Think of it as a tool. When you first picked up a pencil … I am guessing you had no idea how to use it, but through practice, your pencil writing capabilities became so powerful that you can write things down like your signature, the grocery list for a romantic date night, and even maneuver the pencil to inscribe emotional things that make you angry or sad! I say this to give you some motivation to practice with that tool! Do things scared and unprepared but with your handy dandy confidence mouskatool, It is the key – literally. It will unlock so many doors and experiences simply because you have the self believe that you CAN!  Take the small wins, always. the door is wide open to blame someone else and its often the easier route, butttttt, through your own work with this tool practice, you can use that key to open the small hidden door around the corner that you hadn’t thought about, because you didn’t have the tool.

Now I’m just blabbing, but I hope you get the point. If you hadn’t noticed by now, I am also just practicing with this new tool that I created (blogging), and since I have worked on my confidence tool, it makes doing things like this, is much more enjoyable and exciting! *see what I did there* but I encourage you to seek love and belief within yourself, you will get there

That was a handful, but all good stuff, take what you need, pass it along, or double it for the next person. With the spring season coming, be intentional about your happiness because what you feel is to be true. If you are persistent, you will get it, but if you are consistent, you will keep it!

And lastly, remember to be nice to yourself, no one likes a bully.
